The mother had wanted to give birth in a tub but instead had to settle for a laundry room, the only room in the facility with no windows.
"The room is only 4'x8', maybe 4'x10'," said McElhaney. They had to crowd the mom, two midwives, and a half dozen others into the tiny room.
But, thankfully the impromptu laundry room birth went off as smoothly as possible.
"This was the most amazing birth story," said McElhaney. "And this baby is going to be reminded of it, I'm sure, her entire life. Her mom is so proud of how it went!"
