Shelter Opens Following Tornado Damage In Dallas, Some Dallas ISD Schools Close

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Many North Texans are starting to get a better look this morning at damage from a tornado that touched down last night.

Homes have been damaged and destroyed, power lines and trees are down. 


The City of Dallas has opened a shelter for people forced out of their homes by the storm at the Bachman Recreation Center. It's at 2750 Bachman Dr, Dallas, TX 75220.

The Dallas ISD has cancelled classes at several campuses in north Dallas on Monday because of the storm.

Those campuses include: David G. Burnet Elementary School, Cigarroa Elementary School, Pershing Elementary School, Walnut Hill Elementary School, Cary Middle School and Thomas Jefferson High School.

The Midlothian ISD has canceled all classes for Monday, October 21st. 

The following schools will cancel classes Monday, October 21:- David G. Burnet Elementary School- Edward H. Cary Middle School- Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa Elementary School- John J. Pershing Elementary School- Thomas Jefferson High School- Walnut Hill Elementary School
