SMU Facing Lawsuit Following Rape Allegations Against Football Player

Southern Methodist University in Dallas is facing a federal lawsuit following a rape allegation against a current football player. 

In the lawsuit, the university is accused of conducting an insufficient Title IX investigation after a rape allegation was reported against a current SMU football player.

The lawsuit says the rape happened last August, and the victim, who lived in the same dorm as her accused attacker, reported it to the school's Title IX office.

The investigation lasted more than 100 days.

According to the lawsuit the university’s investigation found their was insufficient evidence in the case.

The victim in the case says she’s suffered retaliation, threats and harassment.

SMU says it does not discuss pending litigation and any responses will be filed with the court
