DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Sonic has put an apology over an incident at one of their Dallas restaurants last month.
A woman tells NBC 5 her son and five friends, all Black teenagers, were ordered by an employee to get back in their cars or police would be called to the location on Inwood Road near Jesuit Prep.
Shonn Brown's son says white teenagers doing to the same thing were not so ordered.
Yesterday, a line of cars drove through that Sonic's parking lot in a show of support for the Black teens. A statement released by the company says in part "unfortunately, a recent event at our Drive-In restaurant in Dallas, Texas, was handled inappropriately and did not live up to our standards. As soon as we were alerted to the situation by the families involved, we engaged in a valuable discussion on race, equality and a deeper understanding of social justice issues and ways we can improve as a company."
