Sebesta says he's upset about the apparent lack of transparency and disregard for the health of residents of Brazoria county. "They should have called well before they moved any inmates to make sure they made our health department, our first responders, everybody aware of what they were doing."He says the transfer puts Brazoria County's ambulance crews at risk. "It also puts increased exposure to the guards and their families who reside here in Brazoria county and in the region."He is asking for an apology from the TDCJ. "I think that what happened here there is a legitimate concern with the leadership at TDCJ and I believe there probably needs to be changes there."In a letter to Governor Greg Abbott, Sebesta asks that TDCJ reapportion in a fair manner its COVID-19 cases.
He asks Abbott to consider writing an Executive Order requiring the TDCJ in the future to notify elected state and county officials in writing in advance of any COVID-19 positive inmates to that county so preparations can be made.
He is also asking for additional personal protective equipment from the state and reimbursement for any expenses incurred by this inmate transfer
