With federal Coronavirus payroll support subsidies ending on October 1st, Southwest Airlines is cutting more than a third of its October flights based on schedule cuts published last week.
Those cuts include 35,000 flights across the country including about 60 flights a day out of Love Field.
In an e-mail to a local area newspaper, a Southwest spokesman says the carrier will keep middle seats open and unsold through at least the end of October.
After the cuts, Southwest is scheduled to fly non-stop from Love Field to 39 cities in October.
It's cutting flights from Dallas to Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle and Portland
