More than 44,000 people lost power when thunderstorms hit North Texas Sunday night. Oncor reported more than 2,300 separate outages.

DFW Airport recorded the highest wind gust in the area Sunday night at 68 miles per hour. Love Field had a wind gust of 61, and McKinney and Denton both reported winds of 60 miles an hour.

In Allen, wind caused roof damage at several homes, and in Fort Worth, lightning may have started a fire on Tulip Tree Dr. in a neighborhood near I-35-W and the Decatur Cut-off. No one was hurt in the fire or in the wind damage in Allen.

Dallas Fire Rescue says most people were wearing life vests and no one was hurt in either case.

Later Monday morning, Oncor reported power had been restored to several thousand people, but about 2,000 different outages were ongoing, affecting 37,000 customers.
