FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A woman was killed Monday morning when an SUV plowed into her apartment in far east Fort Worth.
It happened at around 10:00 a.m. at the Reserve at Centreport apartments near Trinity Blvd. and SH 360.
"As this vehicle was attempting to reverse into its spot, something occurred that caused this vehicle to accelerate in a reverse position, which ended up hopping over the curb," says FWPD Ofc. Brad Perez.
That SUV, a silver Ford Explorer, went straight into the bedroom of the subterranean ground-floor unit.
"There was a 64-year-old female that happened to be in that bedroom when this occurred," says Ofc. Perez. "She, unfortunately, is deceased."
The woman's grandson, 8, was inside the apartment at the time.
"The grandson was not injured," Ofc. Perez says. "The grandson was not even in that particular bedroom when this occurred."
At this time, it's unclear what caused the SUV to accelerate, whether it was human-caused or a mechanical malfunction.
Perez says while the investigation is ongoing, no charges are pending.
