FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Tarrant County now has two public testing sites for COVID-19.
People who want to get tested will first need to go through an on-line screening process through the county's web site.
"That will take you to a survey that you can complete if you want to be tested. If you quality to be tested, it will set an appointment time for you and tell you what location to go to," said Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitely. "There's not any out of pocket cost. If you have insurance, we'll bill the insurance - but there's not any out of pocket cost for the participants."
Screenings are available on-line in both English and Spanish. Adobe, Oracle and several other technology companies worked with the County to develop the on-line screening. The actual testing sites are operated in cooperation with the City of Fort Worth, the University of North Texas Health Science Center and the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Judge Whitely says they're also working to increase the county's testing capacity. "We're also talking with the state about getting one of the National Guard testing sites in this area, so testing is really beginning to open up," he said. "It will be a way that we'll be able to accumulate data and learn a lot more about this coronavirus."
