
Students across Tarrant County will have to attend classes remotely through at least September 28. View County Order HERE.
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent Scribner sent a letter to employees outlining the decision Tuesday.
He says Tarrant County Public Health would make an official announcement at noon Tuesday requiring classes in all districts to remain online-only for the first six weeks of the fall semester.
"Please know you are all valued and appreciated," Scribner wrote. "Again, thank you for your leadership during this unprecedented time."
Scribner says Fort Worth ISD would hold town hall meetings next week, hosting a meeting in Spanish 5-7 p.m. Monday and English 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Arlington School district says classes will start virtually on August 17th. The district says students will get instruction from their teachers through live and pre-recorded sessions and says technology and connectivity will be made available to students who need it.
Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos says "While this isn't what everyone wanted to hear, we recognize that the decision was made in the best interest of safety for our students, staff members and community."He also says he knows parents, students and staff has a lot of questions..and they will work on answering them today and in the coming days.
Statements Made By Other School Districts In The County:
Grapevine- Colleyville ISD- At 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, Tarrant County Public Health and Human Services issued an order requiring school districts to start the school year in a virtual learning only format. This means that all students and teachers will begin classes in remote learning and buildings will remain closed to students for regular on-campus face-to-face instruction until after September 27. As our staff has been hard at work preparing to support students in a remote environment, the first day of instruction will remain August 17.
Birdville ISD- On Tuesday, July 21, Tarrant County Public Health and Human Services issued a Control Order (“the Order”) requiring school districts to start school with virtual learning only through Sunday, Sept. 27. This means that all students and teachers will begin classes in online learning, and BISD will keep buildings closed to students for regular on-campus, face-to-face instruction and activities until after Sept. 27.
Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD- This means that all students and teachers will begin classes in remote learning and buildings will remain closed to students for regular on-campus, face-to-face instruction and indoor school-sponsored activities until after September 27. The first day of school is scheduled for August 18; however, pending board approval, we will move the start date to August 20 to allow additional time for staff training on the EMS ISD Remote Learning Plan.
Northwest ISD- Tarrant County issued an order to begin the school year with Remote Learning until September 28. This means that all NISD students (including those who live and/or attend school in Denton and Wise counties) will begin as a Remote Learner. More info on Facebook Live: Thursday @ 6p
Keller ISD- On July 21, Tarrant County Health and Human Services issued an order requiring that schools not reopen for on-campus, face-to-face instruction until September 28, 2020. In compliance with that order, Keller ISD will hold all classes remotely only beginning August 19 through September 27.
