Texas College professors are asking the Governor for help to keep students and staff safe during the pandemic.
Texas is still one of the COVID-19 hot spot in the country and college instructors are worried about the spread of the virus. They are pleading with Governor Abbott to step in and delay in-person classes until at least September 8th.
The Texas Faculty Association issued a public plea urging Abbott to instruct all state-supported universities to delay their start dates or offer online classes only until after Labor Day.
Most schools have already announced reopening plans that include a mix of in-person and online learning. Some colleges are allowing instructors to work remotely...but those rules vary from college to college .
So far...the governor has not responded to the request.
