DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Rio Vista ISD closed all school campuses today due to the flu and other illnesses.
Rio Vista district officials say all campuses will be closed for the remainder of the week. There will be no activities held on campuses during the school closure.
According to reports, the decision to close the schools was made when nearly 100 students, 60 in the elementary school alone, of the total 770 person student population reported in as sick.
Rio Vista ISD Superintendent Tony Martin said the district has had to do this a couple times before. Their highest priority is the safety and health of the students.
Rio Vista Independent School District is a public school district based in Rio Vista, Texas. Located in southern Johnson County, a small portion of the district extends into northern Hill County.
Rio Vista schools will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
