AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - On a Conference call with reporters on Wednesday, Texas Senator John Cornyn said the world is a better place as a result of the U.S. Military killing Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and that President Trump has come out of the exchange in a very strong place.
"I think the President's been very fortunate to pull off this necessary strike in a way that will actually deter further acts of violence against the United States and its allies" said Senator Cornyn.
Cornyn added that he believes the limited-response missile-strike by Iran has likely resulted in an end to the military action. "It appears that the Supreme Leader and others decided better of escalating and decided to send some ballistic missiles into uninhabited areas knowing that there would be no American loss of life and no response to that."
Cornyn believes the US show of strength sends a sign to adversaries. "It strikes me that the President comes out of this in a very strong place and Iran and their terrorist aspirations end up being the loser."
Cornyn said he hopes the exchange will insure that Iran never gets nuclear weapons.
