DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- As The Dallas Black Dance Theater pushes through its 44th season, it continues to move with the times. The company has a unique perspective on dance within the fine arts community in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Through the adaptation of technology through the pandemic, they have continued to provide audiences with virtual performances.

Their Artistic Director, Melissa M. Young spoke with KRLD's Kristin Diaz and David Rancken about how the transition was easier than most would think.

Young says as early as 20 years ago, the DBDT had teamed up with the technology company, GTE, for virtual learning residencies. She says that experience was very similar to the virtual expectations that have been needed to continue business during the pandemic.

Young adds, technology has allowed the company to blend both live and pre-recorded performances for audiences to enjoy.

The Dallas Black Dance Theater's "Legacy Performance & Dancemaker's Discussion" is happening on September 12 at 7 p.m.
