CARROLLTON (1080 KRLD) - A string of recent thefts has alarmed owners of Chevy Silverado pick-ups because the thieves are by-passing the trucks' On-Star security system.
Last month, Jarrod Hamlin's 2018 Silverado was stolen in Carrollton - and getting on social media he found a lot of similar stories.
Not only are the Silverados stolen but they are stripped clean, right down to their frames.
A spokeswoman for the Carrollton police department says these thieves are sophisticated in finding ways around anti-theft systems like On-Star.
