DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The actively growing Vivian Fire is over 12,000 acres and around 58% contained.
Erin O'Conner with the Texas A & M Forest Service says, "Today, firefighters will take advantage of terrain and fire activity to construct direct line where possible, while improving all containment lines around the fire perimeter. Mop up continues on all areas that may post a threat to containment. "
She says a heat advisory is in effect today. Very hot conditions will continue with high temperatures approaching 110 degrees, humidity dropping into the upper teens, and south winds gusting to 20 miles per hour. Lower than average humidity recovery overnight will lead to an earlier start of active fire behavior.
Meanwhile, just miles away the Copper Breaks fire is 99% contained after burning over 7,200 acres.
O'Conner says, "Today, ground crews will continue to patrol the entire fire area. Due to a heat advisory and low relative humidity, crews will continue to stay vigilant in patrolling the area for any signs of smoke or fire activity."
There have been no reports of injuries or primary residence loss on this fire.
