There are at least five cases in the Houston area. All traveled together to Egypt last month. There are none in Galveston County. Philip Kaiser recommends limiting international travel. "If you're planning a trip to go to Italy, that may not be a good thing because you may not be able to come home. We've actually had some staff here at UTMB who went on a trip to Italy and then the virus hit. Now they're in self-isolation"
Instead, he recommends coming to Galveston for Spring Break. "Out there on the beach, you're not crowded, you got nice sea breeze blowing everything away. The saltwater can help dissolve the virus. So think of options that don't involve flying places."
