FRISCO (1080 KRLD) - Friends of a Texas A&M coed gathered in her hometown of Frisco last night offering prayers and support for the family of Carly Beatty who was critically hurt in a College Station hit-and-run over the weekend.

Beatty graduated last year from Centennial High School where last night's vigil was held.

Her family was told she faces years of rehab.

The driver did not stop, although witnesses saw him pull into a  parking lot some distance away to inspect his damaged SUV. Then he left again but the SUV was found outside a Gold's Gym where 17-year-old Pedro Puga was arrested, but only after he tried to escape on foot.

He admitted he'd used Xanax and cocaine earlier that evening.
