DALLAS (KRLD) - Friends and relatives of Grand Prairie Police Officer A.J. Castaneda will gather this evening for visitation at a funeral home in Arlington ahead of his funeral tomorrow in Dallas. Officer Castaneda was killed in the line of duty last week when he was struck by a car on the President George Bush Turnpike.
The group Back The Blue HQ has been selling t-shirts to raise money for Officer Castaneda's family.
"People want to reach out and help and do whatever they can," said Sherri Aaron with the organization. "This is a way for them to do that. It helps support the family. The family will see people wearing these shirts at the grocery store or the gas station. They've told me it heals there heart because they feel like that the community has not forgotten the sacrifices that their child or family or loved one has made."
Those shirts are being sold through the group's web site.
Visitation for friends and family of Officer Castaneda will be tonight from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway in Arlington. His funeral will be on Thursday, June 13th at 11:00am at the Potter's House Church, 6777 W. Kiest Boulevard in Dallas.
