With COVID-19 cases on the decline in Dallas County the Dallas ISD is making a few changes to fall athletics.
While the district will start remotely next Tuesday, they've decided to phase-in the start of athletic conditioning and other UIL activities, as long as its outdoors.
Sylvia Salinas is the Director of Athletics with the district says varsity only for cross-country, football, golf, swimming, tennis, and volleyball can meet starting September 8.
The following week, Junior Varsity for those same sports can meet.
Marching band, cheerleading and drill team can resume on Sept. 21.
Salinas says the decision came after guidance from Dallas County health officials.
Last week, student athletes rallied outside the district headquarters demanding they allow them to practice.
