FORT WORTH (KRLD) - The Fort Worth Fire Department says a woman surrendered a newborn baby Thursday morning.

The baby was just hours old when it was safely dropped off at Station 38 on Park Vista Boulevard around 8:30 a.m.

Officials say the baby appears to be in good health and that firefighters took care of it until CPS picked it up.

All Fort Worth fire stations are considered "baby safe sites." The program allows confidential and safe alternative newborn abandonment.
