Rockwall Jumps Into Class 6A State High School Football Rankings

Duncanville, Frisco Lone Star, Aledo, Argyle and Grandview are all spending another week on top of their respective classes in the state high school rankings from Dave Campbell's Texas Football.

After a week off, Duncanville (3-0) maintained its No. 1 ranking in Class 6A.  Allen (4-0) held at No. 3, Denton Guyer (3-0) is at No. 7, Southlake Carroll (3-0) is eighth and DeSoto (4-0) is 12th.  Rockwall (3-1) springboarded into the 6A Top 25 at No. 14 after defeating Arlington Martin, 45-38.  The Yellowjackets will face No. 4 Longview - the defending 6A Division II state champion - in the District 11-6A opener Friday night.


Arlington Martin (2-1) fell three spots to No. 16 after the loss to Rockwall.  Cedar Hill (2-2) held firm at No. 20 and Arlington (3-0) dropped a notch to No. 22 after beating Mesquite Horn, 48-35.

In Class 5A Division I, Frisco Lone Star (3-0) spends a second week at No. 1.  Off last week, the Rangers defeated then-No. 1 Highland Park on Sept. 13.  Denton Ryan (3-0) held at No. 2 in 5AD1, while Highland Park (3-1) remained at No. 4 after beating Dallas Bryan Adams in the district opener, 62-0.  Lancaster (3-1) is No. 9.

In Class 5A Division II, Aledo (2-1) is in the top spot for the fifth consecutive week.  The Bearcats' only loss came to state-ranked 6A Denton Guyer in the season opener.  Midlothian (4-0) entered the 5AD2 rankings at No. 9 this week after beating Arlington Seguin, 42-7.

In Class 4A Division I, Argyle (3-0) continues to hold the No. 1 spot.  Decatur (4-0) is No. 6 and Springtown (4-0) is ranked tenth.

In Class 4A Division II, Sunnyvale (4-0) climbed a notch to No. 7 after beating Glen Rose, 45-7.

In Class 3A Division I, defending state champion Grandview (4-0) held onto its No. 1 ranking with a hard-fought victory over rival Malakoff.  The Zebras beat Malakoff, 14-13.  It was Grandview's third win over the Tigers in the past two seasons.  Despite the loss, Malakoff (3-1) remained at No. 2 in 3AD1.  

In Class 3A Division II, Gunter (3-1) climbed a spot to No. 4 after its 35-0 win over Pilot Point.
