DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - It seems appropriate for a school that has Eddie the Eagle as its mascot.

A whopping 12 members of the Class of 2019 at Episcopal School of Dallas recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. That translates to nearly one out of every four boys in the ESD senior class.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America.  Only about 6% of the boys in the program go on to achieve the prestigious honor.

The 12 Eagle Scouts from ESD include Will Beck, Reece Breaux, Trey Brooks, John Carrie, Miles Cavitt, William Greening, Luke Logan, Jackson Mechem, Scott Neuhoff, Cooper Newsom, Luke Stanford and Christopher Talbot.  In total, they gave more than 1,100 hours of service to the community.

ESD officials said the Eagle Scouts are not only proficient in skills including citizenship, swimming and emergency preparedness, they are also skilled in building decks, constructing eco-friendly garden boxes and installing bike repair stations.

Most of the ESD Eagle Scouts spent the majority of their scouting careers together in the same local troop.

Notable celebrities who attained the rank of Eagle Scout include astronauts Neil Armstrong and Jim Lovell, director Steven Spielberg, former Exxon Mobil CEO and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former Texas Governor Rick Perry.
