IRVING (1080 KRLD) - Not-so-innocent use of cell phones lands three Irving teens in big trouble.Last week at Lady Bird Johnson Middle School in the Irving ISD, an 11-year-old special needs student was using the bathroom when a classmate took a photo of him."A 13-year-old boy opened the door, saw him standing there with his pants around his ankles, shirt on and his backside exposed," says Irving Police Ofc. Robert Reeves. The 13-year-old boy then started sharing the photo."(He) texted it to another boy, and that boy then texted it to another girl," says Ofc. Reeves. "That girl ended up putting it on Instagram."All three 13-year-olds were arrested."Their phones were seized. The picture was taken down off Instagram, and all three are being charged with invasive visual recording, which is a state jail felony."The Irving ISD says the three have also been disciplined by the school, although it did not elaborate on what the punishment was.Reeves says the incident underscores the importance of parents talking to their kids about proper use of cell phones."Parents should have these conversations with their children," Reeves says. "That way hopefully we can prevent our young persons from getting charged with these types of serious offenses."
