DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - American Airlines is apologizing after one of its crews told a Houston doctor to cover up of risk being kicked off her flight.

Tisha Rowe posted on social media that an American Airline crew in Jamacia told her the romper she was wearing was inappropriate and told her to cover herself with a blanket if she wanted to stay on the flight.

Rowe, who is black, called the incident  "racist and misogynistic".

She was returning home from vacation with her son and she says she was  humiliated by the ordeal.

American has refunded her tickets and insists it is "  proud to serve customers of all backgrounds" and remains committed to providing a positive experience for all travelers.

Here is what i was wearing when @AmericanAir asked me to deplane for a talk. At which point I was asked to "cover up". When defending my outfit I was threatened with not getting back on the flight unless I walked down the aisle wrapped in a blanket. #notsofriendlyskies pic.twitter.com/AYQNNriLcq
