10 inmates in the Harris County jail are quarantined after a possible mumps outbreak.

The Harris County Sheriff's office says a doctor checked out several inmates who showed symptoms that are similar to the mumps.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it's a contagious viral disease. Symptoms include:  muscle aches, swollen glands, headache and fever.

So far this year, Texas has had more than 300 mumps cases.
