DALLAS (KRLD) - A man accused of dragging a Texas trooper is facing serious charges Thursday.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say they stopped Russell Patrick Richards for a traffic violation last night on IH-45 southbound, north of SH 242 in Montgomery County.
During the traffic stop, Richards drove away dragging the Trooper several feet. After a four hour manhunt, Richards was caught in a wooded area near Wellman Rd/Tuscany Woods Dr.
Texas Highway Patrol Sergeant Erik Burse says, "The Trooper was transported to the Conroe Regional Medical where he was treated for minor injuries, and later released."
Richards was arrested for aggravated assault of a public servant, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
