DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Tons of Red Raider faithful are likely looking for a place to stay in the Minneapolis, St. Paul as their team is in the Final Four for the first time ever.

The problem is hotels in the twin cities have been sold out for weeks.

Dan Breit with Airbnb says they often see bad actors taking advantage of a situation like this. "Folks will mock up a page that appears to be an Airbnb listing but really is not.  It's not on our platform. Then they'll say just wire me the funds and here's the address and people will show up, and it turns out there's no home."

He says in other cases, the scammers aren't going so far as to mock up a fake page but the are writing on their ad that this is managed by Airbnb.

Breit says the good news is there's a really easy solution. "Search on the platform, communicate on the platform, book and pay on the platform and Airbnb has you 100 percent covered."

He says if you refresh on Twin Cities listings, new ones are popping up all the time. "A lot of people who maybe don't  host much, but have an extra room are saying why not host a Texan who wants to see what may be a once in a lifetime thing."
