DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Royse City ISD says counselors will be available for students at Royse City High School Monday who may have known a classmate and former student who were killed over the weekend.
Royse City police were called to an address in a neighborhood near the high school about 3 am Sunday morning after reports of gunfire. They found two people dead in the 3100 block of Overstreet Lane.
Police and the district have not released the identities of the two, but neighbors say the victims lived in separate homes on the same street.
"There is no telling why this happened," says one man who lives in the neighborhood. "It's just bad that it did, especially in this quiet neighborhood."
Royse City ISD tweeted, writing that one person who was killed was a student at Royse City High School. The other was a former student.
Bryant says the counseling team will stay in place as long as necessary.
"All of our staff will be observant, paying attention to the kids. They can tell if someone needs a little extra support," she says. "Our focus today is to let them know how important they are to us, and their emotions and feelings about this are important."
Royse City police say a third person may have been involved. They are asking that person or anyone who might have information to call them at (972) 636-9422.
