DALLAS (KRLD) - An 8th grader from Coppell Middle School North and a student at North Mesquite High School are suffering from tuberculosis.
The students are being treated, and both school districts say they've informed other students, faculty and parents.
TB often attacks the lungs, but can reach other parts of the body. It is an airborne illness, spread through coughing or sneezing. However, it's very hard to spread. People would have to be around an infected person for several hours to have a chance of catching it.
Both Coppell ISD and Mesquite ISD say there's little chance any other students were exposed, but if there are concerns, those people will be advised to get tested.
