WEATHERFORD (1080 KRLD) - A Weatherford man who shot at four sheriff's deputies will spend decades behind bars.
"Judge (Graham) Quisenberry sentenced Allen Dewayne Thomas to 70 years in prison for shooting at four of our Parker County sheriff's deputies," says Parker County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain.
Thomas shot at the deputies back in April of 2017.
Swain says it was an ambush attack.
"He had previously told the deputies that if they came out there again, he was going to put 'two between their eyes,'" Swain says. "That was about five weeks before. Essentially, he called them out there on something that they had no choice but to respond to. And that's exactly what it seemed like was going to happen, he was shooting right at them."
Thankfully, no deputies were hurt.
"The shots were really close to all of them," says Swain, "but they kind of followed the officers around as they went around the vehicle trying to seek cover."
Thomas will be 78 years old by the time he's eligible for parole.
"He won't be eligible for parole until 2048," Swain says, "so he'll certainly be an elderly person at that point in time."
