After George Floyd died at the hands of a police officer in their city, a majority of members on the Minneapolis City Council voted Sunday to essentially dismantle the police department.
As the protests have intensified, some activists across the nation have issued similar calls for defunding or disbanding departments under the current law enforcement system.
Is it really possible to tear down and rebuild police departments to create a system that would be equitable for all?
Criminal justice expert Dr. Alex del Carmen is a law enforcement trainer at Tarleton State University in Fort Worth. He talked about this controversial issue with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
