Clouds have rolled and its a comfortable morning! With a cool front draped just to the south of the area today, it will remain cloudy and about 10゚ cooler than our 94 degree high yesterday. No rain in the forecast today.
By late this afternoon and evening, the dry line in West Texas will spark widespread shower and thunderstorm activity. Some storms will become severe a good 200+ miles west of us.
Highs this afternoon will vary by location. If you are north of the front, highs will range from the upper 70s to mid 80s. South of the front, expect upper 80s-mid 90s. Storms will approach from the west this evening, potentially reaching the I-35 corridor tonight . #dfwwx #ctxwx pic.twitter.com/ecV7HdCbK2
— NWS Fort Worth (@NWSFortWorth) May 20, 2020As this complex increases in coverage, it will start to move East and will approach our western counties a little after midnight in a weakened state. I can't rule out some thunder and maybe a quarter to a half inch of rain across the Metroplex before daybreak tomorrow. A few leftover storms might ignite by around lunch time tomorrow but it won't be that big of a deal.
Looks like a fairly dry pattern will take shape Thursday, Friday and Saturday with only a few isolated storms possible.
Storm chances will remain in the forecast through the rest of this week as the weather pattern remains unsettled. There may be a strong storm or two in the yellow shaded region Thursday & Friday evening. #dfwwx #ctxwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/KvkcprKDYq
— NWS Fort Worth (@NWSFortWorth) May 20, 2020By Sunday, Memorial Day, and Tuesday, still looks like widespread shower and thunderstorm activity will break out. I think we'll sneak out Saturday 1/2 of Sunday virtually rain free now.
Data continues to be all over the place for the 2nd half of the holiday weekend through next Wednesday. Right now, I expect numerous showers and thunderstorms through the period with some locally heavy rainfall possible.
Looking ahead into the Holiday Weekend! A few showers and storms will be possible each day. Stay tuned for the details! #dfwwx #ctxwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/55IRV9LzJ7
