— NWS Fort Worth (@NWSFortWorth) August 26, 2020In other news, Hurricane Laura continues to strengthen in the northwest Gulf of Mexico and it will continue to head towards the Texas Louisiana border... making landfall sometime around midnight tonight as a MAJOR hurricane. As of now, ut looks like Galveston and Houston will be spared the worst, but Beaumont/Port Arthur, Cameron and Lake Charles, Louisiana will suffer catastrophic damage if its strength continues to build.
Tracking Hurricane Laura In The Gulf Of Mexico
During the day tomorrow, Laura will continue to move north hugging the Texas Louisiana border causing damage and power outages as far north as Lufkin and Shreveport. With Laura's current forecast track, we will see little or no rain out of Laura unless we see a few outer bands edge in from the northeast.
Friday and Saturday will be the hottest days, with afternoon temperatures from the low 90's to lower 100's, with heat indices in the low to upper 100's for both days. Each afternoon has a chance for storms. Be prepared to go out this weekend, and look before you lock.#txwx pic.twitter.com/m3YmctlFdT

By Friday, and isolated shower storm is possible northeast of the area, but we'll look for mainly partly cloudy and hot conditions with highs 94 east to 101 west. Right now I'm keeping rain out of the forecast for the weekend, but that might change into Sunday. highs will range from 96-100 degrees. Heat index values 105-109.
