Some scattered showers, hot temperatures, and Hurricane Laura…those are your weather stories over the next 5 days across north Texas.

Today you'll notice an increase in humidity as well as the continuation of hot temperatures through tomorrow. Afternoon highs will reach the mid nineties. There's also a slight chance for some scattered showers around the area tomorrow afternoon and evening.

A mostly sunny day is expected today (Tuesday) with high temperatures in the mid and upper 90s. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible across the east in the afternoon. An east to northeast wind will prevail between 5 and 10 mph. #txwx pic.twitter.com/UWTaTU1Xn0

Our focus then shifts to the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Laura will continue to strengthen today and tomorrow as it moves across 85 to 90゚ bath water in the Gulf of Mexico. Rapid intensifications will occur during this time frame. Projected landfall is near the Texas Louisiana border right now, but this could be shifted farther west over the next 36 to 42 hours. As of this morning, forecast wind at landfall is 120 mph, but this number may climb.

Follow my tropical updates for a more detailed analysis.

As if now, DFW will feel little or no impact from Laura, but if it's track continues to shift westbound before turning North, we could see some welcome heavy rain around here the 2nd half a Thursday into early Friday, as well as strong gusty winds.

By midday Friday through the weekend, hot conditions will return with highs in the mid to upper nineties. Some areas may touch the century mark.
