Tropical storm Hanna has formed in the West central Gulf of Mexico.

As a 4am, maximum sustsined wind is at 40 mph and some strengthening is in the forecast over the next 36 hours. Expected landfall will near Corpus Christi, Tx. by early afternoon Saturday.

Yesterday the thinking was 50 mph, but as you know, weather can change in an instant. I wouldn't be surprised if this makes a category one status right before landfall early Saturday morning. Wind could approach 75 mph with higher gusts.

Tropical storm warnings are now in effect from the mouth of the Rio Grande to San Luis Pass, Tx.

Rainfall totals will range anywhere between 2" to 7" with this storm from Galveston to Brownsville, with the heaviest rainfall 100 miles either side of Corpus Christi.

Hannah will die a quick death once it hits the mountains of Mexico early next week.

Here in North Texas, we won't see much rain out of this at all. Just a few outer bands dying a quick death as they approach from the ESE by late afternoon both Saturday and Sunday.
