After a gorgeous Mother's Day weekend, the weather changes over the next 7 days. Keep in mind , it is MAY in North Texas and that usually brings us bouts of severe weather. Please stay weather aware Tuesday and then again Friday and Saturday as we head into the weekend.
Today will be warm and breezy with plenty of sun. Humidity levels will start to increase.
By late this afternoon, severe weather will start to ramp up well to the west of north Texas. A few storms may survive as they approach before daybreak tomorrow in a weakened state.
Mostly-partly sunny skies prevail today w/breezy SE winds this afternoon. Highs 75-85 degrees are expected. Scattered tstorms to our west late today move east while weakening overnight. Few storms may be strong w/gusty winds and small hail w of I-35. #dfwwx #ctxwx #texomawx pic.twitter.com/GAR9woKMMm

— NWS Storm Prediction Center (@NWSSPC) May 11, 2020A break in the precipitation is expected Wednesday and Thursday, however, areas 60 miles west of 35W have a chance for more severe storms. It's not out of the question, that a couple could sneak towards the I-35W corridor late Wednesday and again on Thursday. What's in our favor? A strong cap will be in place both days. This will weaken storms as the approach north Texas.
Our next significant weather change arrives Friday and Saturday, as a strong upper level disturbance approaches. There will be plenty of heat, moisture and cold air aloft to fuel the fire. Stay weather aware! It could get a little bumpy, so you may want to return your tray-tables to their upright position by then.
Storms move out Sunday, with slow clearing from west to east.
