I lost track of how many times “wow” was exclaimed during DSM’s Aladdin at Fair Park Music Hall.
Disney’s jaw-dropping new production is indeed a “Pure Genie-us” spectacle full of magic, fantasy, colorful costumes, fabulous singing, athletic dancing and breathtaking effects.
Many big tips of The Saint’s Halo to Director and Choreographer Casey Nicholaw, Bob Crowley’s Scenic Design, (Monster Mountain and Magic Carpet Ride), Music Supervisor Michael Kosarin, Danny Troob’s Orchestrations, Costume Designer Gregg Barnes, Lighting Designer Natasha Katz and the seventeen other members of the crew!!
Multiple bravos to the entire cast and ensemble!! Dallasite Clinton Greenspan as Aladdin and Fort Worth’s Major Attaway as Genie were simply tremendous from start to the final curtain. Attaway with his wit, humor and presence, brought the house down. Greenspan is the perfect Aladdin with his signing, acting and movement.
The Honolulu born and San Diego schooled, gorgeous songbird Kaenaonalani Kekoa, was superb in her first national tour as Jasmine. I really enjoyed Jonathan Weir as the evil, darkly funny Jafar and Reggie De Loena as his sidekick Iago.
Jerald Vincent was stellar as Sultan and Zach Bencal, Ben Chavez and Colt Prattes sensational as Aladdin’s “entourage.”
All the musical numbers are wonderful and well performed. Favorites were “Proud of Your Boy”, “A Million Miles Away”, “Friend Like Me” and “A Whole New World.”
Aladdin is a marvelous musical with non-stop entertainment, showtime pizazz and romantic chemistry, that enhances a great Disney Classic.
Take a magic carpet ride to see this flawless, perfectly executed and performed production of the hit Broadway Musical through June 23, 2019 at Fair Park Music Hall in Dallas.
