Talk about a perfect show for a pre-Halloween weekend!

Lyric Stage in Dallas, is gearing up for "Little Shop of Horrors," playing October 26-29 at the Majestic Theatre in Downtown Dallas.

It's the first time for Esteban Vilchez, who plays the protagonist Seymour in the tongue-in-cheek horror comedy, to be in the show.

Vilchez, who recently played Tarzan in a Lyric Stage production, says Seymour is a completely different character.

"I'm a human being that takes care of a carnivorous plant from outer space," Vilchez explained. "It required a completely different preparedness from me, but it's been fun."

Vilchez expressed his relief that he hadn't inadvertently picked up any plants during the recent solar eclipse, jokingly alluding to the origin story for Audrey II, the carnivorous plant featured in the show.

Vilchez actually wasn't really familiar with the show at all before being cast as Seymour. But he quickly developed an affinity for the show, describing it as "so hilarious" and praising the cast's remarkable talent. "We're just having a good time together," he added, confident that the audience would thoroughly enjoy the production.

"Little Shop of Horrors" arrives just in time for Halloween, making it the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a horror story with a humorous twist. Vilchez assured potential theatergoers that the show strikes the right balance.

"It's horror enough for your family to still come and enjoy and not get too scared," Vilchez says.

An added bonus is that the show is in the beautiful, historic Majestic Theatre.

"If you have never been there, I would buy a ticket just to see the Majestic Theatre. It's just gorgeous," Vilchez added.
