This Saturday evening, jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as Klyde Warren Park hosts an enchanting night of "Jazz Under the Stars."
Organizers are promising to deliver an array of jazz genres, showcasing the diversity in the captivating art form.
Renowned trombonist Michael Mordecai shared his insights on the event and his journey through the world of jazz.
"We've got a spread. The first band will be playing fusion. Think of Pat Metheny on steroids with a 10 piece band. Follow that up with the Ephraim Owens Quintet playing cool jazz. And then we close it with Carmen Bradford returning to Texas to play some big band swing," Mordecai explained.
Mordecai is excited to reunite with the Grammy-nominated Bradford, whom he met when she was just 18 years old.
As a trombone player, Mordecai has had the privilege of performing with legendary artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Aretha Franklin, and Willie Nelson.
Reflecting on the tight-knit jazz community, Mordecai stated, "It is a small community. Everybody knows somebody who's this connection. And that's the way we make music too. We're all connected."
The show is free to the public. But VIP tickets are available for $50 each and include access to a special lounge area offering complimentary wine, beer and la Madeleine hors d’oeuvres.
"We got very lucky with the weather. It's gonna be a fabulous night to bring the kids and the whole family," Mordecai described.
Whether you're a seasoned jazz aficionado or a newcomer to the genre, "Jazz Under the Stars" is going to be a night to enjoy.
