Happy Halloween! To get you in the haunting mood, KRLD has put together some urban legends from around DFW including the lady at White Rock Lake and the many ghosts at Miss Molly's Hotel in Fort Worth.

The Lady of the Lake at White Rock Lake

According to the urban legend, long ago, a lady in a soaking wet dress stopped a young couple driving by and asked for a ride home.

The couple agreed, but when they arrived at their destination, they looked in the backseat and the woman was gone. Where she was sitting there was just a puddle of water.

The woman had led the couple to a house, so the couple knocked on the door and the homeowners said they had a daughter who died years earlier.“

She and her date were on the way to the prom, ended up driving into the lake and died,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez says, surprisingly, back in the day, many people drove into White Rock Lake and died.

But after years of research she can’t find any record of a death like this. However, she did find this story somewhere else.

Over the years, reports have flooded in from drivers who claim to have picked up a strange woman in a dripping wet gown. The drivers usually have nothing but a puddle to corroborate their stories, as the woman always vanishes before reaching her final destination. Though the old house where the woman’s father once lived has long since been boarded up and condemned, her spirit still wanders the area around White Rock, searching in vain for a way back home.

Miss Molly's Hotel in Fort Worth

Miss Molly's Hotel on Exchange Avenue just off of Main Street, in the Fort Worth Stockyards has several ghosts that roam the property.

The hotel has been a boarding house, a high-end hotel, a bordello and the city’s first-ever official ‘bed and breakfast’ since it opened in 1910. Several guests have decided to extend their stay indefinitely.

"I had no clue it was haunted [when I took the job] so when I came to work here, after a few months, things started happening,” said Paula Gowins, the Manager of Miss Molly’s who has worked at the hotel for more than a decade.

A cowboy nicknamed Jake has been spotted by employees and confirmed by several mediums, a little girl has been seen in the owner’s private rooms, and most notably several of the former working girls from the hotel’s bordello days have been said to stand at the foot of people’s beds.

“I saw him in full body. He walked into a room and shut the door behind him, and I went up and knocked on the door and opened the door and no one was in there,” Gowins said, with a laugh. “That is when I knew something was up because I’m sitting there thinking, ‘I know I’m not crazy!’

”Some employees have quit over the years due to paranormal activities like coins appearing after rooms have been turned over or strange scents arising.
