Will Dalton Schultz's time as a Cowboy come to an end within the next couple of weeks? According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, "little momentum presently exists toward a new contract" between him and the organization.
"Barring an unforeseen development, Dalton Schultz will hit the open market this month, putting the Cowboys tight end one step close to a potential departure in free agency."
Dallas has until March 7 to place the franchise tag on Schultz for the second straight offseason. This year's tag would cost the Cowboys around $13 million. Should they not place the tag on him, Schultz can begin contract negotiations with other teams March 13.
The K&C Masterpiece discussed Gehlken's report on Friday's show. Listen to the podcast below.
