The Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in 2016 and Dallas could have eyes on another stud running back in the first round this year.
Bijan Robinson is the running back in this draft class and Dallas could bring him in to replace Elliott if the Texas running back falls that far.
NFL Insider Brian Baldinger of the Audacy Original Podcast “In The Huddle” spoke about Robinson and where he thinks the star running back will be drafted.
“Dallas sitting there at number 26, I mean if Bijan dropped past 20 because teams just said ‘We’re not taking a running back. The Jets took Breece Hall last year, on his way to rookie of the year, tore his ACL.’ It’s part of the business,” Baldinger said (7:55 in player above).
“If Bijan Robinson drops past Seattle at 20 – they’re not going to take him, they got a rookie running back last year who’s really good – Dallas is going to make a move. Tony Pollard is the only back on the roster right now and he’s coming off a bad injury. I can’t see Bijan Robinson in any draft dropping past Dallas at 26.”
The issue might be that Robinson is selected in the top 20 picks, though. The Eagles, Patriots, Falcons, and Lions are among the teams between picks 10 and 18 that could be interested in the running back.
Nevertheless, adding Robinson to the Cowboys offense would give them another explosive weapon and could be just what they need to get over the hump.
“The talent, it’d just be crazy in Dallas,” Baldinger said. “They would go nuts.”
We’re just two short weeks away from the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 27th. We’ll find out then where Robinson will be starting his professional career.
