The Cowboys got a shiny new toy for their offense on Monday when they signed wide receiver T.Y. Hilton to a one-year deal. But Dallas also lost starting right tackle Terence Steele to a season-ending knee injury, Bobby Belt of 105.3 The Fan reported.
The Cowboys announced later Monday that MRI results on Steele's left knee confirmed that the offensive lineman had suffered a torn ACL and MCL.
"Terence Steele is just a rock of a man. He's been so, so consistent. It's obviously going to be a loss for us. I can't say enough about him as a person, his work ethic, and the way he goes about it. … I'm disappointed to see what he's going through," head coach Mike McCarthy said at his briefing with the media on Monday at The Star.
Dallas also lost nose tackle Johnathan Hankins in the second quarter of the team's win over the Texans with what was initially disclosed as a shoulder injury. But according to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Hankins suffered a sprained pectoral muscle.
When asked about Hankins, McCarthy said the injury is "pretty significant," but the lineman remains under evaluation.
Defensive end Dorance Armstrong was also banged up on Sunday, as Machota reports that the pass rusher left AT&T Stadium in a walking boot.
McCarthy said he didn't have an update on Armstrong's status but believes he has a chance to play against Jacksonville on Sunday.
As for tight end Jake Ferguson, who exited Sunday's game with a neck and head injury, McCarthy said they'll know more regarding his status by Thursday.
