The Rangers placed right-handed starter Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day IL on Friday due to a strained right groin, the team announced.
Eovaldi was forced from Thursday's start after experiencing tightness in his groin.
Eovaldi landed awkwardly after throwing a pitch in the sixth inning and was visited on the mound by manager Bruce Bochy, pitching coach Mike Maddux and athletic trainer Matt Lucero. After a short discussion, Eovaldi was pulled from the game.
The right-hander tossed 5.1 innings of two-hit ball while striking out eight and allowed zero runs.
