DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly in danger of losing one of their top assistants this week, with senior defensive assistant George Edwards emerging as a major candidate for the head coaching job with the Duke Blue Devils.

Edwards has been with the Cowboys since the 2020 season, after serving as the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator from 2014-2019.

During his weekly visit with 105.3 the Fan, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones commented on the potential departure of Edwards.

“Jerry and I, very aware of that," Jones said. "He certainly deserves the consideration.”

Edwards has previous experience at Duke, serving as an assistant with the Blue Devils in 1996. He is also a Duke alum, playing for the Blue Devils for four years, and earning honorable mention All-ACC in 1989.
