The Dallas Cowboys are losing another member of their coaching staff to another organization, as the Seattle Seahawks "plan to hire" Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde as their defensive coordinator, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Friday.
Assuming Durde is the choice, he would join Joe Whitt Jr. to become the second Cowboys assistant to get a defensive coordinator job this offseason. Whitt Jr. followed former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to Washington to be the Commanders' play caller on defense.
Durde, 44, has been the Cowboys defensive line coach since 2021. Before coming to Dallas, he spent three seasons on Quinn's staff in Atlanta. Durde served as the Falcons defensive quality control coach in his first two years and was promoted to outside linebackers coach in 2020.
Durde, a native of Middlesex, England, began his football career in the United Kingdom. He eventually made it to the NFL by way of the league's "International Player Pathway Program" and had two short stints on the Panthers and Chiefs practice squads.
Durde is not expected to call the team's defensive plays for the Seahawks, as new head coach Mike Macdonald said he would be in charge of playcalling.
