The Carolina Hurricanes stand just one win away from capturing the Stanley Cup, and Gavin Spittle and NHL insider Sean Shapiro are here to break it all down on the Spits and Suds podcast.

Shapiro praised Carolina’s decision to switch to goaltender Brandon Bussi during the series, noting the tactical move has paid dividends for the Hurricanes.

Meanwhile, offseason trade rumors are heating up as Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin and Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse are both reportedly seeking trades. Shapiro pointed out that given the high figures attached to Nurse's contract, the return Edmonton receives will likely fail to meet organizational expectations. However, the analysts agreed that if the Dallas Stars could acquire Nurse at half of his yearly salary, it is a deal Dallas should aggressively pursue.

The duo also debated whether Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov remains overlooked by hockey fans despite his elite production.

In award news, Stars forward Jason Robertson was named to the NHL First All-Star Team. Spittle and Shapiro noted that the prestigious honor will significantly increase Robertson's leverage and stock during upcoming contract negotiations.

Finally, the analysts discussed their expectations for Stars forward Tyler Seguin as he prepares to return from injury this season.
