Joe Whitt Jr., the Cowboys' most popular internal candidate for their vacant defensive coordinator position, is following Dan Quinn to Washington to be the Commanders' defensive coordinator. The assistant coach was scheduled to interview for Dallas' defensive coordinator position on Monday but pulled out of the running to accept the job with the Commanders on Sunday.
Not canceled, however, are the Cowboys' first interviews with defensive line coach Aden Durde, Mike Zimmer and Ron Rivera, who will visit with the Joneses about the team's defensive coordinator position on Monday at The Star, according to multiple reports.
