Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Barkevious Mingo was reportedly arrested in Texas this week on charges of sexually abusing a minor.

Mingo, a 30-year-old journeyman, was arrested by Arlington police officers and booked into Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth on Thursday, TMZ Sports reported.

Court documents and law enforcement officials indicated Mingo was detained for "indecency with a child, sexual contact," which is a second-degree felony, the report said. Such cases can carry sentences of up to 20 years, according to the story.

The Falcons responded with a statement on Saturday, saying they just became aware of the situation and are taking the allegations "very seriously" while gathering more information.

Mingo was released on Friday morning, after his bail was set at $25,000, the TMZ report said.

Details of the accusations against Mingo were not yet clear.

The former LSU standout was the sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft, in what was seen as something of a gamble selection in a relatively weak class. He spent three seasons in Cleveland, holding his own but never particularly distinguishing himself.

He's since had one-year stints with the Patriots, Colts, Seahawks, Texans and Bears, including winning Super Bowl LI with New England. He signed a one-year deal with the Falcons in March.
